Highline College has conducted an annual student poetry contest in celebration of National Poetry Month since 2012. With our celebrations, we are not only able to celebrate poetry, but also the creativity of our campus community.
Throughout its history, various visiting poets have read their work and offered workshops at the college as part of the festivities, giving participants opportunities to be exposed to poetic visions and learn to exercise their own creativity. The student poetry contest has cash prizes, and for some years there has also been winning poems displayed in the Highline College Library.
National Poetry Month and its events are open to the entire campus community, whether you're a poetry buff or a first-timer when it comes to writing any poetry at all.
Feel free to visit the Student Contest Page to learn more, or browse the pages for past event winners and past events for various years to get a better idea of what National Poetry Month at Highline College has been about!
